Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (15)

Rutherglen Reformer - - The Ticket -

Fifteen years on from its first instalment, the franchise many thought would never die finally shuffles off into a not-so-early grave.

I’ve actually remained a begrudging fan of the series and one of its best visuals was the previous film’s closing scene of creatures descending on the White House.

Alas, Paul WS Anderson — helming his fourth Resident flick — fails to build on this and delivers a bogstandard Final Chapter.

As ever, leading lady Milla Jovovich is a gutsy, butt-kicking force of nature and there are some neat gory kills.

But several key plot points and twists come and go in shambolic, loud and occasionally incomprehensible fashion.
