Anger after ATM shuts down

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Cambuslang Main Street was left without a working ATM twice last week.

However, Royal Bank of Scotland has insisted this was a temporary arrangement.

One ATM is now no longer in use after the closure of the Clydesdale Bank, while a second at Corky’s is also no longer in service.

That left one machine at the site of the old Royal Bank of Scotland, but that was out of service on both Monday and Thursday last week, leaving many residents and businesses furious. Angeline Coyle, who runs the popular Tea Bay cafe on the Main Street, said: “People are already staying away from the Main Street because there isn’t a bank and now they couldn’t even get any money.

“This has had a massive impact on the street. I am on my knees right now.”

Many others took to Facebook to express their anger.

But a spokesman for Royal Bank of Scotland said their ATM had now been refilled and there were no plans to remove it.
