Thieves tar­get Kings Av­enue busi­nesses

Busi­nesses in Ruther­glen are be­ing urged to be vig­i­lant of thieves after sev­eral at­tempts were made to break into two premises on Sun­day.

Would-be raiders en­tered the yard of Kings Park Builders on Kings Park Av­enue at 3.50am when they made an un­suc­cess­ful at­tempt to gain en­try to the Post Of­fice, also ser­viced by the yard.

How­ever, the two men were able to break into a third busi­ness in that area, King’s Take­away, where they stole cash and soft drinks.

Both men were filmed on CCTV look­ing for items in the yard be­fore mak­ing off.

The first male is de­scribed as ap­prox­i­mately 5ft 6in, wear­ing a grey hoodie and jog­ging bot­toms which have an EA7 em­blem.

The sec­ond male is de­scribed as 6ft, wear­ing a dark-coloured jacket with re­flec­tive ma­te­rial on the front.

Wit­nesses are cur­rently be­ing sought and those with in­for­ma­tion are urged to call Po­lice Scot­land on 101 or Crimestop­pers on 0800 555 111 quot­ing in­ci­dent num­ber SP-20170621- 2049.
