Man re­ported af­ter sta­tion at­tack

A man has been re­ported to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal fol­low­ing Fri­day’s as­sault at Cam­bus­lang Train Sta­tion.

The 25-year-old from Ruther­glen was found by po­lice who re­leased an ap­peal for in­for­ma­tion fol­low­ing the at­tack, which took place dur­ing morn­ing rush hour. It saw a man, be­lieved to be in his 40s, sus­tain se­ri­ous in­juries to his face.

He was taken to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment for the in­juries, which were ini­tially be­lieved to be con­sis­tent with a stab­bing.

How­ever, af­ter be­ing ex­am­ined at hos­pi­tal, it was de­ter­mined that the vic­tim had not been stabbed but had re­ceived a fa­cial in­jury af­ter hit­ting his head.

Bri­tish Trans­port Po­lice head ear­lier re­leased a state­ment ask­ing for peo­ple in the sta­tion at 9am, or those pass­ing by, to come for­ward. Of­fi­cers were also keen to speak to any­one who may have seen an al­ter­ca­tion on Queens Av­enue in Cam­bus­lang shortly be­fore the train sta­tion in­ci­dent in­volv­ing a man on foot and an oc­cu­pant of a taxi.
