A Rutherglen community was left stunned when a primary school boy was found carrying a knife in broad daylight.

A group of mums from Burnhill called for more diversionary activities for young children in the scheme to keep them away from weapons.

The lad, believed to be around 10 years old, was spotted with the blade as he walked on Toryglen Road.

According to parent Elizabeth McDonald, it was not the first time potentially deadly weapons had been found in the possession of young children.
