Woman‘dumbfounded’after bike stolen from outside shop
A Cambuslang cyclist is warning others to be on their guard after her bike was stolen while she went for a tan.
Chantal Gray, 34, was at the Sunshack on Cambuslang Main Street when she left her bike outside.
But, even though it was visible from the shop, someone made off with it without anyone noticing.
It was the first time she had ever taken the bike, which was a gift from Chantal’s husband, to Cambuslang Main Street
She is now looking for information about the whereabouts of the bike and to warn others to make sure they lock up their vehicle.
Chantal said: “I just went up to the sunbed shop. I left it between there and the bookies.
“It was really busy and I tried to keep my eye on it but when I went back outside it was gone.
“I asked if anyone had seen anyone hanging about but no-one saw a thing.”
Chantal, who works as a health coach, only moved to Cambuslang’s Morrison Park from Fife last year.
She added: “I didn’t think there was any chance of it getting stolen.
“If someone has been that brave to get on the bike on a busy street and just ride off, they could do it to anyone.
“I had never ever taken it to the Main Street before. I think I’ll just take my chances and walk now.
“After it, the woman in the shop said I could have taken it into the shop but that never occurred to me.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever been a victim of crime. I never reported it to the police because I didn’t want to waste their time.
“I think I was so dumbfounded that someone would just take it.”
The bike is a grey Saracen. It was taken between 7-8pm on the evening of Tuesday, June 27.
Chantal has asked anyone with information to contact her on 07793116257.
