Nodanger claddingon local schools

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

A South Lanarkshire school that used a similar type of cladding as Grenfell Tower is not in Rutherglen or Cambuslang, the Reformer can reveal.

Figures released last week showed that 44 schools across Scotland used similar materials, with one in the South Lanarkshire Council area.

But officers this week confirmed the school in question is Glengowan Primary School in Larkhall.

Danny Lowe, executive director of housing and technical services resources, said: “While we continue to have confidence that our buildings meet stringent building and fire safety regulations, these actions demonstrate that the council understands that there is no room for complacency when it comes to fire safety.”
