The fu­ture of Blair­tum Park House was fi­nally de­cided when South La­nark­shire Coun­cil gave the go-ahead for plans to turn the Ba­ro­nial-styled build­ing into a sup­ported hous­ing unit for young, sin­gle, home­less people in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang, de­spite strong op­po­si­tion from the lo­cals.

Glas­gow taxi driv­ers were out­raged at a de­ci­sion to flood Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang with 40 new cabs.

It was claimed that lo­cal cy­clists were dic­ing with death due to a lack of cy­cle lanes in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang.
