A charity which launched in Rutherglen last year is hoping to form a second group.

Contact the Elderly’s free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties have become wellloved in Rutherglen since they started in November.

There is now interest to form another group and the charity is appealing for more people who would like to be a guest, or help, to get in touch.

Janice Kerr, development officer at Contact the Elderly, said: “Our Rutherglen tea parties have proved exceptionally popular. Guests and volunteers thoroughly enjoy their Sunday afternoons together once a month.

“Volunteer drivers collect an older person who lives alone in their local area and accompanies them to a tea party in a volunteer host’s home.

“The commitment for volunteering is a few hours once a month for drivers and once a year for hosts.”

Contact the Elderly can email or post a leaflet if someone would like to share it with an older person who would benefit.
