Mum’s the word for DJ Sean at TRNSMT show

Rutherglen Reformer - - The Ticket - Jonathan Geddes

An Uddingston DJ was delighted to wow fans at Scotland’s biggest music festial recently - especially as one of the crowd was his mum!

Former Holy Cross pupil Sean Callaghan has already had a memorable year, performing in the French Alps after winning a contest organised by Coors Light. His most recent show was at the TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green, which was headlined by Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro. Sean was performing at the Smirnoff House stage on both the Friday and Sunday of the event.

He told the Ticket: “DJing at such a big festival in my hometown was a great experience.

“I took my mum along on the Friday to watch me DJ and experience her first ever festival - she was delighted and it was nice to share it all with her.

“The Smirnoff House stage was my favourite place as it was a unique setup and had a great atmosphere about it all weekend, from up and coming DJs to big headliners like Monki, Silicone Soul and Jasper James, and the crowd was going for it start to finish.

“From the get go on Friday it was a really good atmosphere and it didn’t drop all weekend.”

Sean was grateful for the chance to perform before big crowds, and thanked Mixmag and Smirnoff for giving him that chance.

He said: “The guys from Mixmag have given me a massive push and trusted me to DJ at such a big event, I can’t thank them enough for such a great opportunity.

“I got positive feedback from everyone I spoke to, from walking off the stage and people shouting me over to say they enjoyed my set to people messaging me on Facebook and most importantly the Mixmag and Smirnoff guys giving me great feedback.”

Now the talented 27-year-old is looking ahead to the future.

He added: “2017 has been a great year so far and isn’t going quiet anytime soon.

“Apart from my Saturday residence in the Junkyard in Hamilton, I am also working on some production and getting to grips with that side of it.”
