Halfway and District hailed their member David Fergus who was part of the Lanarkshire South team that lifted the Andrew Hamilton Trophy at the weekend.

The side, made up of some of the best bowlers in the district, defeated West Lothian last Saturday.

It was the closest of games and with the score at 112-112 with one end remaining, Lanarkshire South got a one after a measure to win the silverware.

Meanwhile, last Saturday saw the Rosebowl fun day take place at Halfway and District.

The rain did not dampen the spirits and a great day was had by all who participated.

It was a free day and everyone brought along some food that would have fed an army.

Winners on the day were Audrey Stoddart and Maureen Lewis with last year’s winners Nicola McGurk and Sandra Hughes picking up the booby prize.

The Ladies Top 10 campaign begins tomorrow night, Thursday, with a home game against East Kilbride at 6.30pm. Rinks one to four will be getting used so any ties will need to be played on rinks five, six or the back green.

The gents are away to Houldsworth this Sunday in their Top 10 first round game with a 2pm start.

In the RDBA Triples League Halfway won both games against Whitefield. This week’s opponents were Templeton and next week’s are Overtoun Park.

The sheet for the Tennents Triples on Saturday, August 5, will be taken down on Monday night. Anyone still to enter a team please do so before then.

On the seniors front in the Monday morning league, the Section 2 team won at home to Hamilton but lost away.

The Section 3 team won home and away against Blantyre.
