Farmecross Hall in Rutherglen could be brought back into use.

South Lanarkshire Council, which owns the building, says it has recently been approached by businesses and community organisations interested in taking on the property.

The council has since invited all those with an eye on the property to express interest before a closing date of August 18.

Frank McCafferty, head of property services, said: “The property at Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen has not been in use for some considerable time.

“However, there has been tentative interest by a number of small businesses and community organisations in recent months.

“The property has not been placed with estate agents and at this stage the council is not seeking formal offers to lease or buy.

“The advert is seeking to ascertain the level of interest in the property in order to inform consideration of the future options for the building.

“Anyone with an interest is asked to provide their details to the council by the closing date.”
