Labour Party is on election footing
Scottish Labour have launched a campaign across Rutherglen and Cambuslang in case there is another general election before the end of the year.
Activists have been out in all four council wards with the party saying they are on “permanent election footing”.
The party has enjoyed a decent few months in Rutherglen and Cambuslang, holding on to council seats in all four council wards and taking Rutherglen and Hamilton West from the SNP in June’s general election.
Gerard Killen MP has been joined by Glasgow MSP and party campaign manager James Kelly on the streets over the past few weeks.
Mr Killen said: “We won in June thanks to positive policies and hard campaigning. This doesn’t stop for the summer and our team will be out and about, speaking to voters and spreading Labour’s positive message.”
Mr Kelly added: “Parliament may be in recess but Labour is on a permanent election footing. We have seen how positively local people have reacted to Labour’s message over the past few months, with great results at the council and general elections in May and June. We’re keeping that momentum going and delivering our message to every ward .”
