Ruther­glen and Cambuslang’s 12 coun­cil­lors re­turn to work this week with surg­eries start­ing back on Au­gust 17.

Surg­eries are a vi­tal part of the demo­cratic process, al­low­ing vot­ers to have their voices heard by elected mem­bers.

De­tails of the surg­eries have been re­leased for the coun­cil­lors.

Th­ese are: John Bradley (SNP, Cambuslang West) - first Mon­day of each month, from 6.30pm at Cathkin High school; last Mon­day of each month, from 6.30pm at Trin­ity High School.

Wal­ter Bro­gan (Lab, Cambuslang East) - first Tues­day of each month, 5-5.30pm at Flem­ing­ton/Hall­side Church, 5.45-6.15pm at North Half­way Hall, and 6.30-7pm at West­burn Com­mu­nity Hall; first Wed­nes­day of each month, 5-6pm at the Par­ticip8 hub.

Robert Brown (Lib Dem, Ruther­glen South) - first Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-7pm at Fern­hill Com­mu­nity Cen­tre; sec­ond Wed­nes­day of each month, 7-8pm at Burn­side Blair­beth Church; third Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-7pm at Spit­tal Com­mu­nity Hall; fourth Wed­nes­day of each month, 6.45-7.45pm at Cathkin Pri­mary Com­mu­nity Wing.

Ja­nine Ca­likes (SNP, Ruther­glen Cen­tral and North) - first Satur­day of each month, 10-11am at Ruther­glen Li­brary.

Mar­garet Cowie (Lab, Ruther­glen South) - sec­ond Tues­day of each month, 5.30-6pm at Fern­hill Com­mu­nity Cen­tre and 6-6.30pm at Fern­hill and Cathkin Church; sec­ond Tues­day of each month, 6.30-7pm at Spring­hall Com­mu­nity Cen­tre; fourth Mon­day of each month, 6-7pm at Spit­tal Com­mu­nity Cen­tre; fourth Wed­nes­day of each month, 5.30-6pm at St Mark’s Pri­mary School and fourth Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-7pm at Burn­side Pri­mary School.

Mar­garet Walker (Lab, Cambuslang West) - first Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-6.45pm at East­field Com­mu­nity Cen­tre and 7-7.45pm at St Bride’s Pri­mary School; third Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-6.45pm at Cambuslang In­sti­tute; fourth Wed­nes­day of each month, 6-6.45pm at Whit­law­burn Re­source Cen­tre.

Con­ser­va­tive pair Ann Le Blond and Jared Wark say fixed surgery times do not suit most con­stituents and are en­cour­gaing res­i­dents to con­tact them di­rectly to ar­range a meeting. Ger­ard Killen MP will stand down as a coun­cil­lor on Septem­ber 27 but will be host­ing surg­eries over the next few weeks.
