Boss is back in dugout

- Murray Spooner

Cambuslang Rangers manager Paul McColl was pleased to be back in the dugout as his side continue their excellent form in the league.

The Somervell Park boss, who was serving a four-month touchline ban for comments made to a referee during a match towards the tail end of last season, watched on from his technical area as The Lang kept up their 100 per cent record since being promoted to the Super First .

After a meeting with Hampden chiefs last week, McColl was granted permission to officially return to the touchline and watched his side overcome Cumbernauld 3-1.

He said:“It’s good to be back and it was a cracking result away from home.

“Although we didn’t play that well in the first half, we did come in at half-time 2-0 up and upped it in the second to get the job done.

“Cumbernauld are a decent side and they will take points off teams this season, I’m sure of it.

“Andy Frame’s teams are always hard to beat and he recruits well.

“They’ve got Robbie Winters, who used to play for Aberdeen, in the team and people may say he’s 42 and past it but he is still a class act.

“There was plenty of balls knocked into our box but not much came from it.

“Ian Stewart has an injury and is playing through it so fair play to him. He was excellent on Saturday just like the back four, [Chris] Smith, Barry Eley and Callum McRobbie.”

Cambuslang return to Somervell for their next league encounter as Kello Rovers, who were recently promoted from the Ayrshire District League, come to town.
