Lights blow for drivers

-

Motorists using a vital road through Cambuslang will have to endure temporary traffic lights until the end of the year.

Greenlees Road has been affected by the traffic measures while work continues on a new housing development across from Kirkhill Golf Club.

Concerns have been raised about pedestrian safety while the work is carried out as drivers face queues of traffic at the lights, which are situated close to the new roundabout on the road.

The project is being taken forward by Persimmon Homes West, and their managing director Doug Law told the Reformer it could be another 11 weeks until the work is complete.

He said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused at the Greenlees development. However, as part of the planning consents, we are required to provide new pedestrian access fronting to our new homes along Greenlees Road.

“We hope to have all works completed by the end of December, subject to weather conditions and the utility provider adhering to our programme.”
