Jamieson shines in Sun City

-

Cathkin Braes Golf Club member Scott Jamieson came agonisingly close to winning his second European Tour title at the weekend after he produced his best display for almost five years.

The 33-year-old topped the leaderboard at the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa going into the final round after shooting a bogey-free 67 in the third round on Saturday.

Jamieson was battling it out with native player Branden Grace in Sun City for the title, eventually finishing just one shot behind the eventual champion.

It was Jamieson’s best showing on the Tour since he won the Nelson Mandela Championships in Durban, which was reduced to 36 holes due to bad weather, back in December 2012.

However, he still walked away with a cheque for a cool £630,000 and qualifies for this week’s end-of-season World Tour Finals in Dubai.

Meanwhile, there was bad news for former Cambuslang man Marc Warren, 36, who just missed out on the finals. He finished in a tie for 66th place in Sun City.
