Ap­p­will give­sex health ad­vice

NHS La­nark­shire has de­vel­oped a new mo­bile phone app to help young peo­ple get bet­ter and more ac­cu­rate and timely in­for­ma­tion on sex­ual health ser­vices.

The ‘YP Ser­vices’ app of­fers a range of ser­vices for those aged 20 and un­der.

Ser­vices in­clude con­tra­cep­tion, sex­u­ally trans­mit­ted in­fec­tion test­ing and treat­ment, blood borne virus (BBV) test­ing, free con­doms, gen­eral in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice.

Janet Ro­bi­son from the BBV and sex­ual health pro­mo­tion team, said: “The mo­bile phone app com­ple­ments this ser­vice by pro­vid­ing young peo­ple with a re­source at their fin­ger­tips elec­tron­i­cally.

“Young peo­ple can use the app to find out where to lo­cate their near­est YP clinic and also gain ac­cess a wide va­ri­ety of in­for­ma­tion and sign­post them to ser­vices ap­pro­pri­ate to their needs.”
