Revellers beat the weather

Rutherglen Reformer - - Burns Night Celebrations -

The Rutherglen SNP Constituency Association held a Burns Supper at Cambuslang Rugby Club to celebrate Scotland’s national bard.

Despite the atrocious weather, there was a fine turnout, although principal speaker Humza Yousaf was unable to attend due to the conditions.

Event organiser and chairman, Alan McLennan, stood in and presented a fitting Immortal Memory to The Bard.

Rod MacCowan proposed an excellent, witty and very humorous Toast to the Lasses and Margaret Ferrier provided a superb reply.

Graham Hill provided a wonderful rendition of Tam O’Shanter and attendees were treated to some beautiful singing of Burns songs by opera singer Frances Coyle and folk singer George Ferguson.
