A Cambuslang school made the most of a postponed event last week.

St Bride’s Primary marked World Book Day, delayed from last month because of bad weather, by dressing up as favourite literary characters.

The school also welcomed several guests, who all read out chapters from books they love to the children.

Among those putting in an appearance were the actor Kevin Guthrie, best known for his role in the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, along with BBC Scotland sports presenter Alistair Lamont and STV newsreader Halla Mohieddeen.

Pictured are some of the children who got into the spirit of things on the day.
