Burnside golfer Lewis Irvine will be teeing off today in the Boys Scottish Open Championship.

The teenager is regarded as one of Scotland’s best young amateur players in the sport.

And he is among the favourites to win the competition held at Montrose Golf Club.

Fellow Kirkhill Golf Club member Craig Ross is also in action this week.

The Cambuslang local is competing in the final qualifying round for the EuroPro tour from April 4 to 6 at Filfordheath Golf Club in Oxfordshire.

He will be joined by clubmate Paul Shields.

Ross, already a winner on the third tier tour when still an amateur at the 2014 Glenfarclas Open, beat Shields into second place.

• Make sure to pick up next week’s Reformer to find out how all three golfers got on.
