Healthy life lessons

Pupils at Cairns Primary and Nursery enjoyed some healthy living lately.

The youngsters spent six weeks learning about different ways to stay fit and look after themselves.

These included healthy eating, sports to get involved in and various other activities to learn.

Parents and carers went along on the last day to hear about what the children had learned over the past few weeks.

Nursery team leader Michelle Burns said: “It was a really great success.

“We were so pleased with the great turnout from parents and carers on the day, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“We’d like to say thanks to Lindsay Meighan, health development officer, and the team for delivering a great programme.

“Also thanks to McColls for their donations of fruit on the day.”

The school was also visited by the author and children’s entertainer Alan Windraw.

He spoke to the children, encouraged them to sing songs and even taught them a spot of dancing.
