Kathleen’s moves net dance award
South Lanarkshire secondary schools contest
A Rutherglen High School pupil fought off fierce competition to be named one of the top performers in a secondary school dance contest.
Kathleen Collins was among the winners at the South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Active School Secondary Dance Competition 2018.
The 17-year-old took home the prize for Best Individual in the S1 to S3 age group at the event which saw a total of 280 pupils take part.
Chairman of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, Councillor, David Watson, said: “Our annual dance event is a celebration of the leadership and creativity taking place across our learning communities on a daily basis.
“The standard of the performances was outstanding and the confidence in the pupils performing on the night shone through.
“Volunteers in school communities leading dance clubs make a huge contribution to the event and support our Active Schools team in making the night such a success.”
Schools from Rutherglen and Cambuslang were among 17 from across South Lanarkshire to send teams to compete in the contest staged at Hamilton Town House.
Trinity High School pupils chose the track Around The World for their performance in the S1 to S3 category while Catkin High danced to Britney Spears’ Circus.
