Rutherglen Reformer

Call for views on train station

- Jonathan Geddes

People in Cambuslang and Rutherglen are being reminded that there is still time to give their thoughts on South Lanarkshire Council’s park and ride consultation.

The Reformer recently reported how Rutherglen train station is considered a high priority in the proposals, but Cambuslang and Newton stations are not.

Now Cambuslang Community Council has urged all members of the public and the town’s business community to reply to the consultation before the deadline for feedback on June 30

A spokesperson said: “If Cambuslang is to get new capacity to deal with the commuter parking and free up space for shoppers, it is critical that the community lobbies South Lanarkshire Council for a new Park and Ride car park on Bridge Street – the only place near the station where there is vacant land.”

The consultation covers all 19 railway stations in South Lanarkshire, which are managed by Network Rail.
