Cops’ plea after new Springhall stabbing

Rutherglen Reformer - - FRONT PAGE - Marc McLean

A man was stabbed in Springhall at the weekend – just a few hundred yards from where another knife attack took place two months ago.

The 36-year-old was seriously assaulted with the blade in Strathmore Gardens between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Hairmyres and it is understood he has since been released.

The crime scene is very close to the location of another knife assault, where a 29-year-old man was set upon in Cruachan Road on July 19.

That was the latest in a spate of knife attacks in the Springhall area.

This week, Police Scotland are appealing for information to catch the violent thug who struck on Sunday.

Detective Constable Debbie Walker, of Cambuslang CID, said: “Officers are currently trying to establish a detailed description of the suspect and have been checking the area for CCTV and making doortodoor enquiries.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
