Po­liceon hunt­for vi­cious thug

Po­lice are hunt­ing a vi­o­lent thug who stabbed a man out­side a Ruther­glen pub on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

The 32-year-old vic­tim was stand­ing out­side The Farme Cross pub - for­merly The Wee Mill - in Baronald Street when he was as­saulted.

He suf­fered a stab wound and was rushed to hospi­tal. Po­lice said yes­ter­day (Tues­day) that the man was in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

A Po­lice Scot­land spokesman added: “This in­ci­dent is cur­rently be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by CID and we ap­peal to any wit­nesses to come for­ward by call­ing 101 or Crimestop­pers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be main­tained.”

Mean­while,a man suf­fered suf­fered lac­er­a­tions to his head and a shoul­der af­ter al­legedly be­ing at­tacked with a knife in Ruther­glen last week.

The 31-year-old is said to have been set upon last Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon in Hamil­ton Road.

A 43-year-old man was later ar­rested in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent and re­manded in cus­tody.
