A help­ing hand for hous­ing day

South La­nark­shire Coun­cil’s Hous­ing and Tech­ni­cal Re­sources re­cently threw their sup­port be­hind Scot­tish Hous­ing Day 2018.

A se­ries of events took place with the aim of rais­ing aware­ness of the lat­est de­vel­op­ments in hous­ing and help­ing peo­ple un­der­stand and make in­formed de­ci­sions.

The teams’fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties col­lected more than £1200 for the char­ity Who Cares? Scot­land. The char­ity’s Ewen, An­drew and Sharon met the Hous­ing Ser­vices teams and also vis­ited a South La­nark­shire flat set up to give young peo­ple some ex­pe­ri­ence of what liv­ing in­de­pen­dently is like.

An­nette Fin­nan, head of hous­ing, said:“Last year for Scot­tish Hous­ing Day we fundraised to sup­port lo­cal food banks and I’m de­lighted that once again our teams have been out­stand­ing in rais­ing more than £1200 for this wor­thy cause.”

Who Cares? Scot­land ad­vo­cacy worker Ewen Kerr said:“We are grate­ful to South La­nark­shire for invit­ing us to join them on Scot­tish Hous­ing Day and for rais­ing money for our char­ity. It’s greatly ap­pre­ci­ated by every­one at our or­gan­i­sa­tion.”
