Cambuslang coach Jamie Seery was delighted at his team’s last gasp heroics again at the weekend – but he wishes they’d stop cutting things so close.

Cambus scored a try on the last play of the game for the second week running, pushing them past Stewartry 29-24.

The dramatic finish came just seven days after a similar effort ensured the local lads defeated Irvine.

Jamie said: “We’d have liked it to be a bit more comfortable than that, but it’s good character for the guys to come back from that deficit and win. Ideally we won’t be doing that too often though.”

The late drama came after Cambuslang thought they’d blown their chances.

A late break with three minutes ended when the Coats Park team were whistled for a forward pass, giving their opponents the ball.

However Cambuslang’s impressive scrum managed to regain the ball, and Greg Morrison powered over in injury time to win it.

The result leaves Cambuslang third in the table, and they travel to Allan Glen’s this weekend.
