Police have released photos of a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious assault that took place in Rutherglen nine months ago.

The images of a dark-haired man aged 30 to 40 were distributed last Thursday and Police Scotland say they believe he will be able to assist them with their enquiries.

At around 2.20 pm on Sunday, January 14, , a 33-year-old man was crossing Castlemilk Road, near to Kingsbridge Drive, when he was assaulted by another man.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for serious facial injuries.

The man police believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries is around 6ft tall, of medium build, and was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and jogging bottoms. He speaks with a local accent.

Police Constable Alan Smith, of Rutherglen police office, said: “We are appealing for the man in the image to come forward, or anyone who knows of him to get in contact. We believe he may be able to assist us in this enquiry.

“Crimes like this will not be tolerated and officers have been checking CCTV as well as making door to door enquiries to trace the person responsible.”
