Sports clubs across Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang could bag a share of £50,000 in fund­ing from su­per­mar­ket chain Aldi. Ap­pli­ca­tions are now open for the Aldi Scot­tish Sport Fund, with clubs lo­cated across the re­gion in­vited to ap­ply for a share of £50,000. Now in its third year, Aldi’s Scot­tish Sport Fund aims to help peo­ple of all ages take part in phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity within their lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties by giv­ing clubs the chance to se­cure up to £500 fund­ing.

Richard Hol­loway, Aldi re­gional man­ag­ing di­rec­tor for Scot­land, said: “It is our way of giv­ing lo­cal clubs a help­ing hand to con­tinue the fan­tas­tic work they do in their com­mu­ni­ties.” Clubs have un­til Mon­day, Novem­ber 5 to ap­ply for up to £500 fund­ing. Ap­pli­ca­tions can be made via­tish­sport­fund. Ap­pli­ca­tions will be con­sid­ered by the Aldi judg­ing panel and en­trants will be no­ti­fied within four to six weeks.
