Design call for new Baby Box

Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Niki Tennant

Artistic young people are being called upon to submit their ideas to help design the new generation of Baby Boxes.

Baby Boxes were introduced by the Scottish Government in 2017 to help tackle deprivation, improve health and support parents.

The current illustration on Scotland’s first Baby Box was chosen through a winning entry in a design competition. Its imagery includes a forest fairytale scene complete with Highland cows, squirrels and the Loch Ness monster.

Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey is backing the call for young people with a passion for art and design to submit their own concepts for the next rollout of boxes.

Ms Haughey said:“This is a fantastic opportunity for young budding designers across Rutherglen and Cambuslang to showcase their talents.

“It would be a tremendous achievement for a local person to be chosen as winner, therefore please enter the competition if you are interested.”

Successful designers will be invited to a Jam Event later this month where they will work in teams with professional design agencies to bring their concept ideas together.

The winning design will be selected by an expert judging panel later in the year before launching in 2019.
