The Cathkin Braes team have recently wrapped up a great season after winning the Inter Cities Cup.

In the match, played on Sunday October 7, at Musselburgh Golf Club, they defeated the Edinburgh Golf League champions Turnhouse by 6-3.

In difficult and blustery conditions, the match was another Inter Cities classic, with both teams looking like winners at different stages of the match.

It was Cathkin, however, who got over the finish line, despite some nail biting putting on the sloping 18th green!

The team have recently completed a historic three in a row in the Brand Putter League, were winners of the Boundary Bell for the second time, and are now winners of the Inter Cities Cup for the second time.

A club spokesperson said: “Credit to all at Cathkin involved with the team, manager Gordon Rennie and his support team including captain Billy Mathie and stand in team manager John Sangster, plus many others.

“We would also like to thank Turnhouse GC for their great sportsmanship, tournament organiser Ian McDonald, and Musselburgh Golf Club for presenting a golf course in great condition and hosting the event.”
