Shop worker is threat­ened

ROB­BERS armed with a ma­chete and small hand­gun threat­ened to ‘burn’ a shop worker dur­ing a raid.

Po­lice said the two men en­tered the One Stop shop on Er­rwood Road in Bur­nage and at­tacked the till be­fore threat­en­ing to burn the worker.

As one of the of­fend­ers re­turned to the car, the vic­tim low­ered the shut­ters forc­ing the pair to flee in a black Ford Mon­deo.

One of­fender was white, about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and had his face cov­ered. He was wear­ing a black hooded jacket and grey track­suit trousers. The sec­ond was white, slightly smaller, of stocky or fat build and was wear­ing dark cloth­ing.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened shortly af­ter 9am on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 8.

De­tec­tive Constable Amanda Dou­glass, said: “The threat of vi­o­lence was ex­treme and ex­ces­sive, thank­fully the vic­tim re­mained calm.”
