MU boosts game

AGROUP of Tim­per­ley teenagers gained a foot­ball coach­ing qual­i­fi­ca­tion thanks to a part­ner­ship be­tween the Manch­ester United Foun­da­tion and Tim­per­ley and Dis­trict Ju­nior Foot­ball League.

A group of 16 and 17year old vol­un­teers took part in a five-day coach­ing course which in­volved foot­ball the­ory and prac­ti­cal, along with el­e­ments of first-aid and safe­guard­ing, be­fore at­tend­ing an awards cer­e­mony to be of­fi­cially pre­sented with their level 1 award.

Gen­eral sec­re­tary of the league, Brian Fletcher, said: “The part­ner­ship has been bril­liant.

“It will im­pact league with th­ese

the guys go­ing back to their own clubs and help­ing out ev­ery week­end.”

Foun­da­tion chief ex­ec­u­tive, John Shiels added: “Our con­tri­bu­tion is to sup­ple­ment and com­pli­ment the bril­liant work al­ready be­ing done by the league. Any­thing we can do to help de­velop the game at this level is part of our role.”
