Slimming World’s Free2Go programme provides free help and advice for 11-15 year olds
SLIMMING World provides a warm and caring environment at its weekly group meetings, where members are supported to make longterm lifestyle changes and manage their weight healthily.
Healthy eating is encouraged in line with current nutrition guidelines and members are provided with help to increase their physical activity levels in a way that suits them and their lifestyle.
An additional young members programme was launched in January 2006 and each year, Free2Go helps over 10,000 young members, along with their families, to live healthier lives.
Membership is offered free of charge to young people aged between 11 and 15 if: ■ they’re accompanied by a parent, guardian or family member who has the main responsibility for their meals at home ■ support and recommendations of the young person’s GP or nurse have been secured
Slimming World believes that family influence is a key factor in a young person’s eating habits and exercise routines. It encourages the whole family to make healthy lifestyle changes so that young people are not singled out and helps parents to support their family in making these changes.
The young person is encouraged to be involved in the decision making regarding food choices and activity. In the friendly and non-judgemental atmosphere of a Slimming World group, the focus is on praise and encouragement whenever the young person makes even the smallest of changes.
