A-LIST BODY

-

THIS WEEK: Lucy Liu’s arms THE actress, renowned for her roles in Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill — for which she trained eight hours a day, five days a week — showed incredibly toned arms at the recent Tony Awards.

At 47, she now squeezes in exercise when she can. ‘Ten years of Pilates has really changed my body for the better,’ she says. She also runs on a treadmill in front of the TV. ‘I run while watching Downton Abbey, I’ve found running is the fastest way to lose weight.’ WHAT TO TRY: Backstroke swimming with weights is a Pilates exercise to strengthen and tone the arms. Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Hold a dumbbell or bottle of water in each hand and raise arms to the ceiling, palms facing forwards. Keep elbows slightly flexed. Take your right arm behind you and overhead towards the floor. Simultaneously bring your left hand down to your hip. Bring arms back to the top and continue ‘swimming’. Repeat ten times on each side.
