Even strong women need a helping hand
IT was intriguing to read about Denis Thatcher’s anger with the BBC back in 1988 over false claims that wife Margaret, pictured with him, wanted to legalise hard drugs as a ruse for ‘killing off the weak’.
So incensed was Denis that he fired off a letter to then BBC chairman Marmaduke Hussey and barred him from a Whitehall party. Evidence, perhaps, that even the strongest of women occasionally need the protection of the men who love them. Philip May, please take note.
