Pool rescue boy dies in hospital
A BRITISH schoolboy has died in hospital four days after being saved from drowning in a swimming pool on the Costa Brava.
The 12-year-old had been resuscitated by lifeguards and a doctor at the poolside after getting into difficulties at the Guitart Central Park Hotel in Lloret de Mar, where he was staying with his parents and two sisters.
The local police arrived very quickly with a defibrillator and managed to get his heart going again.
He was taken to by air ambulance to hospital in Barcelona, and officials confirmed the boy, who has not been named, died on Monday after four days in intensive care.
It is understood the youngster had been taking medication for a health condition and an investigation into the death, led by a local judge, is probing whether it contributed to what happened.
