THOUSANDS WILL LOOK TO THE SKIES

-

THE Scottish International Air Show has gone from strength to strength in the wake of its first show in 2014, following the close of the Leuchars Airshow in 2013. The 2015 show saw spectator attendance surge from 60,000 to 120,000 and the 2016 show returns to Ayr Low Green on September 2 and 3, and promises to be even bigger. The highlight of last year’s show was a fitting send-off for the Avro Vulcan before its retirement and the 2016 Air Show programme looks set to dazzle the Ayrshire crowd once again. On Friday the ground exhibitions and funfair open at 2pm, with flying displays starting at 5pm including a B-25 and Mustang flypast and Aerosparx LED covered planes. A dramatic fireworks display will light up the night sky. On Saturday, highlights will include the Red Arrows who will demonstrate their gravitydefying aerobatics, and there will also be a touching flypast of the Battle of Britain memorial flight, pictured above.
