Stella is outshone at her own party by £100million pal
PICK OF THE PARTIES
STELLA McCartney’s Christmas bash at her flagship store in Bruton Street, Mayfair, has long been a fashion highlight of the season.
However, Sir Paul’s fashion designer daughter was spectacularly upstaged on the night by 46-year-old Greekborn beauty and entrepreneur Maria Hatzistefanis.
She is the founder of Rodial, known for its Dragon’s Blood beauty serums, and is said to be worth £100 million.
While Stella, 45, rejects man-pleasing fashion in favour of shapeless hoodies and shifts, her guest wore a figurehugging Maison Margiela mesh top over a nude-colour strapless bra to give the illusion of being completely naked underneath.
‘She clearly knows how to get attention!’ observed one male guest, while another cruelly remarked it cost a lot of money to look that cheap.
Maria, a mother of two, praised Stella on social media after the party as an ‘inspiration’.
Such an inspiration that she didn’t wear anything by the designer on the night. Her trousers were by David Koma, her shoes by Dsquared2 and her clutch was Chanel.
Another luminary not wearing Stella was Rolling Stone guitarist Ronnie Wood — accompanied by wife Sally, right — who spurned her new menswear collection in favour of an avuncular cardigan and wacky trainers. ‘i might not be wearing Stella on my back, but i’m always wearing her in my heart,’ he gushed.
At least Olympic cyclist-turned-equestrian Victoria Pendleton showed some sartorial loyalty by donning a pair of Stella McCartney £540 fauxleather vegan platform shoes. Stella, 45, was dressed in a £2,000 black trouser suit from her own collection.
Comedienne Catherine Tate switched on the store’s Christmas lights in the guise of her alter ego Joannie ‘Nan’ Taylor, an obnoxious old cockney. ‘They got handbags in there for £700!’ she screeched in character. ‘Seven hundred f***ing pounds for a handbag? How do you justify it?’
