lovers should not miss Canongate Stars and Stories, an illuminated walking trail in Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Beautiful light boxes will display quotations and highlight the area’s more than 500 years of printing and publishing history.

From 1508, when the first book in Scotland was printed, to modern authors such as Yann Martel and Jackie Kay, the project will light up the capital’s literary heritage for all to see. Featuring quotes and phrases from famous books and publishing figures, the boxes will be in the windows of Canongate businesses until March.

The event is part of Edinburgh City of Literature’s Words on the Street campaign. A digital map of the trail is available to download via the Edinburgh World Heritage app.
