THE QUICKFIRE ROUND

- LAURA WILLIAMSON

WHAT WOULD YOU BE IF YOU WEREN’T AN ATHLETE (OR A VET!)? A physiotherapist. I like the problemsolving side of it. I loved science at school.

PRIZED POSSESSION? I keep all my race bibs and all my medals go on a little shelf. Maybe a nice photo of my dog, a border collie who passed away five or six years ago.

FAVOURITE MEAL? Roast beef or chicken with roasted veggies. Then a crumble. Comfort food.

THREE GUESTS AT A DINNER PARTY? Sir David Attenborough. He’s my childhood hero. Then Sir Chris Hoy or Sir Andy Murray. And maybe Alf Wight, the guy who wrote vet novels as James Herriot. DREAM TRAVEL

DESTINATION? Iceland. I’m not very good when it’s really hot and I couldn’t survive on a beach for two weeks. I like to be up and about.

LAST BOOK YOU READ? Nothing since I went to university as I’ve been studying. It was probably Michael McIntyre’s autobiography, Life and Laughing: My Story.

LAST FILM YOU WATCHED? Arrival on a plane. An alien space ship lands on earth. There’s not much more to say about that!

FAVOURITE SONG? I quite like Chvrches’ The Mother We Share. It’s quite an inspirational race song.

WHAT WOULD YOU SING AT KARAOKE? Something would have gone very wrong! But it would be something from childhood: Steps’ Tragedy or S Club 7 — Reach.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO UNWIND? I’ll go for nice walks with my family, go to the cinema or see friends. Normal stuff.

DID YOU HAVE ANY ROLE MODELS GROWING UP? Not really. I guess I was so far from being at the top that I didn’t think about it. I never thought it could be me at this level.
