Ban EU boats from fishing
TWO-THIRDS of Scots believe fishing boats from other EU nations should be banned or restricted from entering British waters after Brexit, a poll has revealed.
And more than half of people surveyed think that leaving the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) will provide fishermen based in the UK with greater opportunities.
The YouGov poll was published yesterday by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF).
Chief executive Bertie Armstrong said the poll indicates ‘strong public support for the stance taken by the industry’.
The Federation insist that both the Westminster government and Scottish ministers must ensure control of UK waters is retained after Brexit.
