Guest she scared out of her wits!

-

EVER since 1956, the Queen and Prince Philip have given up to four ‘Meet the People’ lunches each year for eight to ten specially selected guests.

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, who sat next to the Queen in 2015, recalled: ‘She is a sweet woman and we talked about how she spends her weekends, her houses and music. She is really cool.’

Particle physicist and TV presenter Professor Brian Cox, who joined one of the 2016 lunches, found that Her Majesty is fascinated by the solar system and something of an expert on the stars in the night sky.

As always, the corgis lurk by the table. Once, a favourite old dog called Heather started misbehaving and the Queen snapped sharply: ‘Heather!’

This made the opera singer Heather Harper, who was a guest that day, nearly jump out of her skin.
