MOTOWN MAGIC Phil Collins: Going Back To Detroit, 9pm, Sky Arts

WHEN Phil Collins decided to make Going Back, a covers album of Motown classics, he went the whole hog and actually recorded the songs with original Detroit session musicians. It’s hard not to tap your foot and smile along with this film about the recording process.

WAR EFFORT Spitfire Women, 9pm, PBS America

THERE are some great characters in this film about the ladies of the Air Transport Auxiliary, such as Diana Barnato Walker, who did her lipstick and powdered her nose so as to look ‘A-1’ before emerging from the cockpit.

SUPER SLEUTH Elementary, 9pm, Pick

SEASON two of the slick U.S. take on the Conan Doyle stories makes its Freeview premiere. Holmes and Watson’s (Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, pictured) adventures open in London, where the usually New York-based show was filmed and where we meet Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft (Rhys Ifans), who is a chef.

KING OF CHAT My Next Guest Needs No Introducti­on With David Letterman, Netflix

THE U.S. talk show legend David Letterman returns to TV with a new, monthly series for Netflix. His first guest is former President Barack Obama, who talks about how dads should know their limits on the dancefloor. Future guests include George Clooney, Jay-Z and Tina Fey.

MATT DAMON plays a muscly hard man in this clunky dystopian sci-fi from Neill Blomkamp (District 9). His destinatio­n is a space station for the elite, where he can cure his radiation sickness.

LEGAL EAGLE Bull, 10pm, Fox

THIS U.S. drama has hit its stride at the start of season two. Jury expert Dr Bull (NCIS’s Michael Weatherly) is flying high — he’s just picked up a huge cheque for doing very little and his favourite lady friend is in town. Then, events take a twist, and everyone has to up their game.
