FurThEr to the story about the kindly u.S. serviceman (Peterborough), when I was 18, I’d just lost my lovely dad, my mother was ill and my two brothers were serving in Libya and Canada. A break was arranged for mum and me to go to Llandudno for a week. As we struggled along the platform with our luggage, a u.S. serviceman said: ‘That sure looks too heavy for you. Where are you going?’ he took the case, escorted us to the B&B and settled us in. We exchanged names and arranged to meet again. Sadly, he was shipped south, so we never got to meet. I hope he made it back home.
