Lonely ele­phant packs his trunk

POP star Cher trav­elled to Pak­istan yes­ter­day to cel­e­brate the new-found free­dom of the ‘world’s loneli­est ele­phant’.

Kaa­van has lived in a zoo in Islamabad for 35 years. He lost his part­ner in 2012 and has been di­ag­nosed as obese due to his poor diet, and suffers with be­havioural is­sues.

But Kaa­van is now pack­ing up his trunk and will meet the singer, 74, be­fore head­ing off to a sanc­tu­ary in Cam­bo­dia.

The bat­tle for his re­lo­ca­tion be­gan in 2016 and af­ter hear­ing his story, Cher cam­paigned for his re­set­tle­ment along­side Four Paws – an an­i­mal wel­fare group.
