FALKIRK CON­FIRM POS­I­TIVE COVID TESTS AHEAD OF CLASH WITH GER­RARD’S MEN

FALKIRK have suf­fered a blow ahead of to­mor­row’s Bet­fred Cup clash with Rangers af­ter two of their play­ers tested pos­i­tive for coro­n­avirus. The pair will now en­ter a pe­riod of self-iso­la­tion, but no fur­ther close con­tacts have been iden­ti­fied at the League One lead­ers as they pre­pare to host Steven Ger­rard’s side. A Falkirk state­ment read: ‘Falkirk Foot­ball Club can to­day con­firm that, af­ter our round of test­ing ahead of Sun­day’s Bet­fred Cup fix­ture against Rangers, two mem­bers of the play­ing staff have tested pos­i­tive for Covid-19. ‘The play­ers who re­turned pos­i­tive re­sults will self-iso­late in line with Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment guide­lines. We wish both play­ers all the best and look for­ward to wel­com­ing them back to The Falkirk Sta­dium when it is safe to do so. ‘In ac­cor­dance with Scot­tish foot­ball’s Re­turn to Play­ing Pro­to­cols, the Joint Re­sponse Group has been in­formed of the sit­u­a­tion. ‘We have also pro­vided the Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment’s ex­pert group with the nec­es­sary informatio­n re­lat­ing to train­ing-ground data and man­i­fests. ‘We are pleased to re­port that no fur­ther in­di­vid­u­als have been iden­ti­fied as close con­tacts but we have re­minded the coaches and play­ing staff to be ex­tra vig­i­lant and en­sure all guid­ance is ad­hered to ahead of the week­end’s fix­ture.’
