The pop­u­lar­ity of Scot­land’s North Coast 500 route is pro­vid­ing a boost for lo­cal em­ploy­ment in the North High­land area since it was named one of the UK’s top road trips by Rough Guides, ac­cord­ing to a re­cent sur­vey. Re­sults re­veal that out of the 221 re­spond­ing busi­nesses along the 516 mile route, which starts and ends in In­ver­ness, 85 per cent of ho­tels, 78 per cent of food and drink busi­nesses and 70 per cent of ac­tiv­ity providers re­ported an in­crease in trade since last year. Since the route was launched in May 2015, vis­i­tors from all cor­ners of the globe have trav­elled the NC500 to take in spec­tac­u­lar scenery, en­joy su­perb food and drink and en­joy fine High­land hospi­tal­ity. www.north­coast500.com
