JOLOMO
John Lowrie Morrison is well-known for painting the Scottish landscape, which often includes the sea. However his June exhibition in Edinburgh totally features the sea. The exhibition is titled AN T – SEA, alluding to his Gaelic roots on Harris, and also to the fact that many of his family were merchant seamen. His work in this show is much more fluid and expressive, which is what he always strives for – the sea obviously giving him a more abstract vehicle for his work. AN T – SEA can be viewed at The Torrance Gallery, 36 Dundas Street, Edinburgh from 3-24 June. Tel: 01546 870303, www.jolomo.com
HOUSE OF BRUAR
Pete Johnston lives in Little Harbour in Abaco, The Bahamas. Working from a foundry built by his father, Pete brings his wondrous ideas to life in stunning sculptures of bronze and driftwood. Pete’s inspiration is the wildlife and he spends a lot of time researching his subjects (whilst trying to catch them for the pot), before returning to one of the most remote foundries in the world to recreate what he has witnessed. The Turtle Family is priced at £2,750. Tel: 01796 483236, www.houseofbruar.com
